A paisagem é para sempre

Na longa duração da história, as pedras constituem um poderoso reservatório de eventos decorridos no tempo geológico e na lenta configuração da paisagem. É na pedra e na matéria da pedra que, de forma precisa, se encontra a evidência da paisagem como inscrição ancestral, mesmo quando sabemos que a duração existe no transitório, como disse Peter Handke, na simples presença, no traçado da linha do horizonte, no diálogo silencioso que as raízes estabelecem com o céu. É nesse lugar frágil, entre eternidade e sensibilidade, que se cruzam os trabalhos dos três artistas aqui expostos.

Landscapes are forever

Stones have the immense power to provide a geological record of events over the ages, evidencing the gradual process by which the landscape is shaped. The ancestral quality of the landscape is due to stone and nature of stone itself, even though, as Peter Handke said, persistence is a feature of the transitory – in its presence, in the shape of the horizon, in the unspoken dialogue between roots and the sky. It is in this fragile intersection between eternity and sensibility that the works of three artists displayed are located.

Ai Weiwei (n. 1957, Pequim, China) tem uma produção artística diversificada e prolífica que engloba instalação escultural, cinema, fotografia, cerâmica, pintura, escrita e redes sociais. Enquanto artista conceptual que funde o artesanato tradicional com a sua herança chinesa, Ai Weiwei transita livremente entre uma variedade de linguagens formais para refletir sobre a condição geopolítica e sociopolítica contemporânea. Ai Weiwei (b. 1957, Beijing, China) leads a diverse and prolific practice that encompasses sculptural installation, filmmaking, photography, ceramics, painting, writing and social media. NIEK TE WIERIK (NL)
Nasceu em Rijssen, Holanda, em 1951. Estudou Belas Artes em Amsterdão, na Gerrit Rietveld Academia MOA + MOB Desenho 1971 - 1976. Foi professor de História da Arte e desenho no Cals College, em Utrecht - Nieuwegein. Vivei e trabalhou em Amsterdão até 1991. Atualmente vive e trabalha em Lisboa e em Marvão.

Born in Rijssen in the Netherlands in 1951, Niek te Wierik studied Fine Art in Amsterdam at the Rietveld School of Art& Design MOA + MOB Design 1971-1976. He was a professor of Art History and Design at Cals College in Utrecht (Nieuwegein) and lived and worked in Amsterdam until 1991. He currently lives and works in Lisbon and Marvão.


SARA LEME (PT)
Iniciou o seu estudo na área da joalharia em 2011 na Escola Artística António Arroio e em 2013 na Silvera Jewelry School, Berkeley, California. Em 2018 concluiu a licenciatura em Joalharia Contemporânea - Linking Bodies na Academia de Artes e Design Gerrit Rietveld Academy em Amsterdão. O seu estudo na Gerrit Rietveld Academy e o seu passado treino vocacional para uma carreira na dança clássica e contemporânea consolidaram a sua perspetiva pera a íntima relação entre o corpo e o objeto. No seu trabalho sempre utilizou aspetos culturais e sociais da antropologia para a sua pesquisa intelectual e criativa. Desde 2015 que participa em exposições coletivas e individuais por toda a Europa, Brasil e África.

Sara Leme began her silversmithing studies at the Escola Artística António Arroio art school in 2011 and studied at the Silvera Jewelry School in Berkeley, California, in 2013. She graduated in Contemporary Jewelery - Linking Bodies at the Rietveld School of Art& Design in Amsterdam in 2018. Her studies at the Rietveld School and her background in training for a career in classical and contemporary dance endowed her with a broad perspective regarding the intimate relationship between body and object. In her work she has always used aspects of cultural and social anthropology for intellectual and creative research, within the medium of contemporary jewellery. Since 2015, she has taken part in collective and individual exhibitions across Europe, Brazil and Africa.

Os Novos Anos 20: Desafios, Incertezas e Resistências

O VIII Congresso da Associação Portuguesa de Antropologia (APA) irá decorrer em Évora em setembro de 2022, num momento que - desde aqui e agora - desejamos que seja distinto deste que hoje vivemos.
A pandemia, que reconfigurou as vidas e as práticas sociais de todas e todos, acentuou dúvidas e incertezas, trouxe receios e apreensões, tornou mais necessária a compreensão e o entendimento do que se está a passar. Questionámos a sustentabilidade do planeta, o equilíbrio na relação entre humanos e não-humanos (ou a sua falta); Confirmámos a precariedade de tantas vidas, o colapso de tantos sistemas de saúde; discutimos o controle dos Estados sobre as nossas rotinas, os nossos corpos, fez-nos descobrir insuspeitas dimensões do viver.

O Congresso inclui ainda uma Mostra de Antropologia e Cinema, a realizar no Jardim Tardoz do Centro de Arte e Cultura, entre 6 e 9 de setembro. Programa AQUI

The New 20s: Challenges, Uncertainty and Resistance

The 8^th Meeting of the Associação Portuguesa de Antropologia (APA) – Portuguese Association of Anthropology – will be held in Évora in September 2022 – and we sincerely hope that the current situation will have improved by then.

The pandemic wrought huge changes in the lives and social habits of us all, deepened our sense of doubt and uncertainty, brought fear and apprehension, and made understanding and feeling for what is happening in the world more urgent. We were forced to question the sustainability of life on the planet, equilibrium in the relationship between humans and other beings – often a state of imbalance – and we were made aware of the precariousness of the lives of so many, and the collapse of many health systems, while we debated the extent of control by the states over our behaviour and bodies, and were led to discover unsuspected aspects of life.

As part of the meeting, there is an Anthropology and Cinema Exhibition, held in the Jardim Tardoz of the Centro de Arte e Cultura from 6th to 9th September. Further details HERE
